In 1916 and 1917 electoral registers were not published and so the first record of the inhabitants of Platt Parish we have during the Great War are from the 1918 roll. This of course does not include children, but due to the 1918 Act, both men (aged 21+) and women (aged 30+) are included for the first time. The act abolished the property qualification that had existed before the war, and the right to vote had been extended to those of the correct age who had been resident at an address for at least six months or occupants of business premises worth £10 a year. Women of the correct age had to be householders, the wives of householders or have been to university.

From 15 October 1918 registers were compiled twice a year and those from the parish who were absent from home due to military engagements were included on a separate list at the end of the polling district, which is often referred to as the ‘Absent Voters’ List‘.
