Our Ceremony of Remembrance held on the 12th November was once again well attended by local residents, staff and pupils from the school, uniformed groups and village organisations. It was a cold and breezy day, but appropriately the sun came out and shone brightly during the two minutes silence with the wind fully showing the Union Jack flying on our recently installed flagpole. Our new location is so much better for such occasions.

As well as a new flagpole you may have noticed we have instaledl bollards to stop vehicles parking on the Memorial square. The temporary pedestrian panels we were using were not doing the job, however, the new posts can be removed for access in the event of an emergency.

We have two events to remind you of, this year we are holding our biennial New Year’s Eve party in the hall which is always a great night, so do bring your party to ours. Secondly, on March 3rd, we have An Evening with Andy McConnell, the glass specialist from the Antiques Roadshow. Please see separate ads for both events within the village news.

Our next gardening sessions at the hall are November 25th and January 6th – weather permitting. Please join us if you can for an hour or two from 9.30 am, refreshments including sausage or bacon rolls are served to help keep you going. During the last session, amongst other things, we laid the reinforced matting to the grassed overflow area to the east of the site. Once this has had time to bed in it should give us a further ten parking spaces when needed.
