May 2022

We are pleased to report we had a good turnout for this year’s AGM which was held at the end of March. Covid restrictions meant that last year we were unable to hold one so it was good to be able to report that our hall fared well over the last two years and, going forward, we are in a strong position for the future. We were pleased also to welcome two new trustees, Sue Butterfill and Jackie Owens onto the committee. However, we do still have vacancies for more trustees on our management committee should you wish to put yourself forward.

As we move into spring our garden is looking very colourful with lots of Spring flowers making the garden very attractive. If you could help to keep it looking like this, our gardening Saturday held on the third Saturday of each month proves important in trying to keep on top of the weeds. Please join us, if you can, for some light gardening duties along with a chat and refreshments from 9.30 am. There is also still the opportunity to donate a tree – maybe in memory of someone – as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration Green Canopy Initiative.

On June 5th, as part of the Jubilee weekend celebration, we will be holding a street tea party at the hall. Weather permitting it will be outside, inside if it’s raining. We will have DJ Graham organise music and games for the children. Numbers will be restricted with entry by ticket only. A nominal charge of £1 per adult or child will apply, and it will run from 2.30 pm – 5.00pm-ish.
If you would like tickets you can reserve them by email at david_vallance@btinternet.com. The closing date for tickets will be Sunday 28th May.
