March 2020

This year we are holding the hall AGM on Tuesday, March 10th at the Memorial Hall starting at 8.00 pm, please join us for an update report on how the hall is doing in what will have been its 3rd full year of operation. Following the meeting, there will be drinks and nibbles served.

As reported last month, we will be holding a street party at the hall to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day and the end of the Second World War on Friday, May 8th. The event is supported by both the Platt Parish Council and the Platt Fundraisers along with the Memorial Hall trustees. We will be restricting numbers with a nominal charge of £1 pp. DJ Graham is providing music and entertainment/games for the children, and it will run from 3.00 pm to 5.30 pm. Tickets will be available towards the end of March. Running alongside this Scott has agreed to put together another history trail through Platt Woods to mark the anniversary. This will be in situ from late April until the end of the Summer. More information will follow next month on tickets etc.

Our future gardening dates are March 21st, and April 18th from 9.30 am. During the coming months, we expect to see an abundance of spring flowers showing in our garden with the many hundreds of daffodil and tulip bulbs that we planted in the autumn. Please join us for these dates if you can and enjoy a friendly chat over a cup of tea and a bacon or sausage roll, there’s nothing too strenuous, and it all takes place at a leisurely rate.
