On Sunday 3rd September our Hall is officially one year old, and to mark the occasion we are holding a tea party. If you haven`t already reserved your place there is still time to do so, however, you may be able to join us as a casual arrival, although these spaces may be limited.

During the reverently quiet month of August, we have taken the opportunity to have some work carried out. In the small hall, we have installed an air-con unit which will hopefully improve the overheating conditions that can occur when larger groups of people use this room. If it proves a success we hope at some point, to install similar units in the main hall.

In the main hall, we have installed acoustic panels which hang from the ceiling. These will have the effect of reducing the reverberation time of sound by reducing the echo effect, which results in better speech intelligibility. We are grateful to Borograds for their donation towards this work.

We have two future dates for your diary. Firstly, this year sees the return of our popular New Years Eve party, and secondly, on 3rd March 2018 we will be hosting ‘An Evening with Andy McConnell’. If you are a fan of the Antiques Roadshow you will be familiar with Andy who is the show`s glass specialist and is a lot of fun and as mad as a March hare, so it should prove a very enjoyable evening. More info on both events will appear on this website in due course.

If you regularly use the Hall it will not have escaped your notice how well established the gardens are becoming, however, it doesn’t look after itself, so thank you to Jane and everyone else who has spared just a few hours every month or so to help create such fantastic space. If you are able, please join us for an hour or two at our next gardening session, which will be from 10 a.m. on Saturday 23rd September.

As a committee, we were saddened to hear that Vera Scott had passed away after her long illness. Vera had served as a Trustee for many years, and for much of that time as booking secretary. For those who sat alongside her knew she was passionate about our village hall and especially acquiring our new one. She will be missed but remembered for her unique way.
