If you have been to our new hall recently you may have noticed that a lot of work has been taking place to the external landscaping and garden areas and that the rewards are starting to show, with many spring flowers showing their heads.
Thank you to everyone who has turned up to help at our recent Saturday morning working parties; the results of the hard work are there to be seen.
We are also very grateful to Alexander Hunt for donating a collection of nut trees including three different varieties of Cobs all very much in keeping with Kent.
A very special thank you is expressed to Jane Jewitt for taking on the role of garden designer and plantswoman for this project; we would surely have been lost without her knowledge and help.
Our next main task is preparing and raking the areas to be grassed ready for sowing early next month. With our next working day scheduled for 1st April from 9.30am, we would welcome your help if you can make it. Refreshments will be served as usual.
We have now also extended the fence around the perimeter of the site, and will, in the coming weeks, be hanging gates to the entrance.
Looking at the long-term view of the general care of the gardens: the trustees would be interested to hear from any organisations, groups or societies that may be interested in looking after designated areas of the gardens and carrying out tasks such as weeding, pruning, etc. in them. If this is something you would consider please contact any trustee.
As reported in last month’s magazine, we are holding our AGM in the hall on 30th March at 8.00pm in the Committee Room. This will be followed by wine and nibbles. Please join us if you can.
