We are pleased to report the first 6 months in the life of our new memorial hall has been good with positive feedback and enquiries about our new facility. This has in turn resulted in a steady increase in bookings despite the fact that we have increased the hire rates as from the 1st January to reflect the anticipated running costs of our new hall.
Thank you if you voted online for our new hall in either the One Family Foundation Community awards or for the Platt War Memorial Film at the Charity film awards unfortunately on both these occasions we were unsuccessful, but a special thank you to Sandra for nominating us at the One Family and giving us the opportunity to enter.
On the 4th February there will be another garden working party at our new hall starting at 9.30am (weather permitting) to hopefully complete amongst other tasks the laying of the weed suppressant and wood chippings to the main planting area. During March we will be having further working days to prepare the ground and sow the seed to the grassed areas along with further planting.
The trustees would like to say thank you to Mike Varney Burch who has been our treasurer in recent years, he is stepping down from this roll but not as a trustee. Our new treasurer as from the 1st January will be John Acton
As has been said on many previous occasions we would like some younger blood to join the hall management committee to help take our new hall forward for future generations, we have been fortunate that Phil Lonkhurst has joined us recently so if like him you could spare just a little time each month and would like to be part of our new hall team please speak to a member of our committee.
David Vallance, Chairman of Trustees
