In the absence of Jane Jewitt, who was on holiday at the time, about 15 brave souls braved the frosty conditions on 25th November for another working party at the Memorial Hall. The frost was only a thin covering which soon melted in the sun to allow us to work out which were weeds and which were the plants that we wanted there! Everyone knuckled down and weeded an area. Members of the W.I joined us and attended to their area, which is around the trees and shrubs around the side and back of the hall. Despite the colder conditions, new shrubs were also planted at the top of the bank adjacent to Platinum Way. The lawn area was neatened up with a straight edge cut along its perimeter. As ever Alison and Ruth, supplied piping hot seasonal refreshments which warmed us up and kept us going. Thank you to all for their hard work. Although there is still plenty more to do (I believe the next date is a New Year treat on 6th January) we achieved a lot and all under the watchful eye of a few red poppies dancing in the breeze at the Memorial Hall.
